The detection and clinical relevance of hematogenous micrometastases - - circulating tumor cells - - has emerged as an important new area of investigation and clinical management for solid tumors. This symposium will focus on novel methods of enrichment & detection of circulating tumor cells, the reproducibility of CTC detection, the pathobiology of CTC’s, the modulation of CTC immunophenotype and genotype over time, and the current relevance of CTC detection in the management of breast cancer patients.
