Beyond Jung

BEYOND JUNG AUTHOR: Paul Budding Introduction This essay is personal to me as it tries to take the reader through my journey through the Jungian world. And when I say “through” I mean through. I believe that I have been imprisoned in the Jung Cult but am now free from it. The word ‘cult’ maybe a bit strong here. The point is, as this essay will demonstrate, that it is easy for the Jungian to get bogged down with the feeling that there is something in this work of Jung’s. But much of that feeling is just an attachment to that which sounds esoteric. Once one accepts that fact they are out of the cult and see more clearly. In Chapter 1 we will look at the historical context of … Read entire article »

Suppressive Effects of Mesothelioma Tumors

An interesting study is called, “Dickkopf-1 antagonizes Wnt signaling independent of β-catenin in human Mesothelioma” – Biochemical and Biophysical Analysis Communications – Volume 323, Problem 4, 29 October 2004, Pages 1246-1250 by Amie Y. Lee, Biao He, Liang You, Zhidong Xu, Julien Mazieres, Noemi Reguart, Iwao Mikami, Sonny Batra and David M. Jablons – Here is an excerpt: “Abstract – Dickkopf-1 (Dkk-1) is a secreted protein that acts as a potent inhibitor of the Wnt signal transduction pathway. It is thought that the antagonistic effect of Dkk-1 is distinct to the canonical (Wnt/β-catenin) pathway. In this study, we demonstrate that restoration of Dkk-1 expression suppresses cell growth and induces apoptotic cell death in β-catenin-deficient mesothelioma cell lines H28 and MS-1. Furthermore, we discovered that a modest-molecule inhibitor of JNK inhibited … Read entire article »
