1916 was the beginning of modern day biological warfare in the course of World War 1. In 1916 a main British Army camp was successfully infected with the early Spanish Flu virus which killed far much more soldiers in the camp than from battle wounds. It took two more years for German scientists to perfect the Spanish Flu virus and mass create it to infect American and British Army camps in March 1918.
